MEET THE INVENTOR
Larry Williamson
Larry Williamson is the inventor of AirShield and, more than 40 years ago, also invented Spare Air, a compact emergency breathing system that has been used for decades by military, navy seals, divers, government agencies, and safety professionals. Over its long history, Spare Air has helped save thousands of lives. Spare Air is manufactured by Submersible Systems, a company that remains in operation today and is now run by Larry’s daughter, Christine Buban Williamson.
Over the years, Larry developed multiple working AirShield prototypes before creating the current injection-molded design. His goal has remained simple: to provide cleaner personal airflow in situations where surrounding air quality may be poor or hazardous.
AirShield Helmet was developed as a portable powered-air system designed to help provide cleaner breathing air while allowing the user to remain mobile. The concept was created with everyday use, emergency situations, and real-world environments in mind.
